That's step 1. Finding a girl you love is easier than step 2.

Step 2 is having her like you back

Join the club. 'Cept I'm 22, and I did go to a homecoming with a "date" that pretty much was off talking to other people the whole time, so I got to see the beginning of the relationship between my best friend at the time and the girl I really really liked. Dances are overrated!

normally i'd have some sort of pithy comment, but i feel for you man. it took me a loooooong time before i finally felt comfortable with the ladies. and i'm cute!

when i was in high school, i couldn't find the nerve to ask any girls out. i was in love with one of my classmates, but she was too busy dating some oaf to notice me. i was friends with a lot of girls, but enver imagined that any of them might have liked me. it was a mess.

anyway, i learned something along the way---girls are just as nervous as you are, and most of the time have less self esteem. unlike you, women are bombarded daily by things like Cosmo or shows like the swan. it's pretty bad.

from what i've experience, women aren't looking for brad pitt. he makes for excellent eye candy, but women rarely seem to want that in real life. women like confidence, and they like genuine masculinity (don't confuse that for machismo). for the most part, they'll take security over looks and charm. while orlando bloom can look spiffy, he can't do everyday manly things like kill bugs, fix something, or take charge of a situation. it's THESE qualies that women find sexy. while the women's lib movement might say differently, women seem to like it when a guy can take care of them (and please note the difference between taking care of, and controlling. they ARE NOT one and the same).

of course, there are shallow women out there, who either want a big dick, a pretty face, or both. you probably don't want them anyway, so don't worry if they reject you. stick to the girls that are nice, and who please your eye. if you look at women as normal people, and not frightening demigods, you'll see that they're just like you---the same fears, the same foibles, the same uncertainties.

also, don't feel bad about not having kissed a girl yet. i didn't do that until i was 19, and i turned out fine. some people are just slow starters, so there's no timetable for that sort of thing. do it when the moment presents itself. believe me, once you start kissing members of the opposite sex, it'll happen much more often. the same with sex, but that's a topic for another time. gotta learn to walk before you can run.

if you want love, just work on being the best you can be for yourself...i guarantee something will come your way. but just make sure you turn THOUGHT into ACTION. like wayne gretsky once said, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

good luck, bro

Yeah, the club wasn't invented until then. So throwing rocks at the cavewomen didn't work too well with that poor aim of yours, eh Flash?

Walk and talk like your shit don't stink. And be a complete asshole to the girls. They'll be crawling all over you in no time.

Yeah, me too. I'm a big wuss, and there's this hot girl (who actually talks to me, surprise!) and I want to ask her out and stuff, I'm just not that gutsy. :-\ Each day I get close, and I completely don't do it.

Here's something that I figured out in retrospect: the more you know about yourself before you get into a relationship, the better.

I kind of fell into my first relationship. At my grad dance, I was asking damn near every girl I knew to dance, just for the hell of it. I saw one of my good friends' ex-girlfriends that I knew somewhat. She didn't have a partner yet, so we danced. Something clicked, at least for her, and long story short, I found out a few days later that she had a bit of a thing for me. Longer story short, we ended up hooking up, mostly because I knew that she liked me and it required little effort.

I regret that now. I wanted to experience a relationship badly, but I was just getting to the point where I'd feel comfortable (and indeed, be able to) asking a girl out. I hadn't made any moves at that point, and now, nearly two years down the road, my first relationship is over and I'm back to relationship paralysis, because I didn't learn to make the first move then.

Its taken six months to rebuild my confidence levels back to where they were two years ago. I suppose my advice from all of this is: Just keep pushing yourself to ask girls out. Your confidence will get there eventually. Be random. If you can work up the courage to ask a different girl out every day, why not try for a week or two?At worst, it'll make you more used to rejection, and at best, you'll end up with someone. If you're still in high school, there won't be too many consequences, either. (That statement may feel false, though. I can assure you it's a lot truer than it may seem during high school.)

everyone's on their own time table. don't compare yourself to others, it's not fair.

i was more of a late bloomer and didn't look my age so it took a while to become a mack daddy. now i'm 29 and date girls that are barely legal. w00t.

hang in there and be yourself.

So that makes us 3 of us. I've actually asked her if she wanted to marry me (like a joke) and she actually answered "1st I've got to get rich so I can spoil you". I Don't know, is this good or not?

It's good to be a late bloomer, you'll have less baggage when you find the girl you really want to be with..

and until you find the girl... I wouldn't waste time on too many women.. they suck anyways.. :P

Anytime I think of chicks I think of the sirens.. evil bastards just want to lure you in and get you close enough to kill you :P

Got to walk up and say, "Hey, let me take you to lunch." Worst case scenereo she says no and you ask another girl on another day. Don't be afraid, girls are just like guys minus reason and accountability

Relax, y'all, it's a joke --- quoted from the Jack Nicholson film As Good As It Gets.

"How do you write women so well?"

I can't believe it took until the 3rd response before it was noticed to be from that movie. People are getting a little too quick to bash Danoz.

yeah, i've got a couple friends that totally hate it.

usually, if I like dramas (even the ones with comedy) they need to be quirky and different. Drowning Mona is a perfect example of this for me. as good as it gets falls in that category or weird.

Not to mention that you have to be in certain moods to watch certain types of movie.

If your in the mood for a comedy and you watch a serious drama, your going to be disapointed! I just couldnt get into As good As it gets. I was not in the mood to watch it.

Suprprisingly enough, that seems to be true. I've always been nice to girls and I haven't been out with a girl in more than four years... goes to show you that if you treat the girl you want like a piece of dirt, they'll love you like no tomorrow.
