Been a long, long, LONG time since I've posted here.
I am still alive and kicking, believe it or not. I live in New York City, and I make my living as a freelance designer. I'm also doing comedy once a week, either stand-up, or with a troupe I'm part of.
Oh yeah, and I'm getting married in January.
Hmm...anything else?
Yes, I still love Ys.
Who's still alive around here?

Hey man. Sounds like you're doing pretty damn good. I'd love to see a clip of your stand up if possible.

Hey, cool stuff man. Sounds like things are going really well for you. Congrats.
Doing stand-up. Wow. That's gotta take some balls... or a lot of liquid courage.

I was looking through extremely old website folders and came across the guitar tabs folder.

I have to say, it's not as ballsy as you would think. Once you've rehearsed enough, you sort of become like a musician. Each joke is like a song, and you perform them straight through from memory.

I guess I might just be that big of a pussy then. :P I've passed up a few options to sing/play for open mics and the like (felt safer in the home studio or jamming at a house party of known peoples).
I have to imagine that doing sketch comedy would be the least off-putting, personally. I'm a fan of the genre (KITH being my all-time favs). What's your material like?

Gah, it's hard to wrap my mind around how long it's been! IRC, having a website, and all that stuff was mostly when I was in middle school. Now, undergrad is over. Mind = blown.

Once upon a time, I was really into romhacking/translation and website administration (strictly as a hobbyist) These days, I'm mostly into hiking in the White Mountains (12/48 4000-footers summitted), spending time with my girlfriend (who is awesome), and working (Ack! The dreaded "job"). Unfortunately, video games have mostly fell by the wayside. I hope everyone is well!

Can't get into the hiking thing; I really have an issue with heights. However, I do a lot of biking and went on a 130 kilometer trip out to eastern Hebei Province and back last month. It was pretty cool.
I spend pretty much all my time working, which means editing text or designing for print. If I have time I go out to take pictures around town. My wife and I are pretty boring: we only really get to go out once every other month. Usually too exhausted from the jobs.

I'm so old school, Zophar's Domain didn't even exist when I learned about video game system emulation. Node99 and Damaged Cybernetics all the way!

I discovered my first emulator via Usenet in the spring of '96. I discovered my first ROMs via FTP in the summer of '97. I started coming to this site in, I believe, November of '97 and I joined the staff in early '98. Prior to that, I began masturbating in approximately 1989.

I began breathing in 1988. I wasn't masturbating until like 1993.

People who use the terms "oldfag" or "newfag" are way faggier and more likely to be transsexual than people who are refereed to by those terms.

You are replying to Lillymon. As such, I cannot determine whether your post is stunningly ignorant or deliciously trolling.

Also, I haven't seen Paladyn in a while.
I may or may not have heard from icenine0 when I email him a while ago related to Der Langrisser stuff. I never see him on Google Talk anymore.

Not to be an asshole, but 30 is not young.
In most of the world, someone that age is expected to be married with children and saving up money in case he doesn't die before retirement.
It says he died at home. Was it an accident, cancer or suicide? Or did he pull a Jim Henson? Those would be my primary guesses for why someone would die at home at that age.

I got into comedy a long time ago, but decided to start trying to do it professionally in 2009. Actually, more like "professionally". Showbiz is very weird for comedians. You have to give away your product FOREVER before you can start to make any money.
It's pretty much an exposure game. The more people see you, the more cred you get, the more cred you get, the more you're asked to be in shows that pay. I'm in that dark area where cred meets pay, so I still have a day job.

9 days of inactivity. Either people care way less about Niels that than they used to, or this site's fate is as clear as Elazul's Pad's.

Uh... hi.
I actually found this because I was randomly thinking about Elazul Yagami and wondering how all the events in the middle-east had been effecting him.
I used to post waaaaay back in the day if anyone remembers (I see some familiar names here.) I was obnoxiously Republican if that jogs anyone's memory. Now I'm probably obnoxious in different ways that will look silly in another decade.
Anyway, I guess I'm checking into the "still alive" thread. Did the forums just kinda atrophy or did people migrate elsewhere?
Edit: Man... it's really weird thinking back to the people I used to talk to here. It's like remembering a lost world.
