I've never had kids, so take this with a grain of salt, but it seems to me you should want to have them before you have them. Having a child out of submission to somebody else just sounds like it's asking for trouble.

you're 16, right? i wouldn't worry about kids right now. just enjoy everything life has to offer, and think about that crap if/when you get married.
where have you been, by the way? you're never on AIM or anything :P

...or it could be that you're not even old enough to vote yet. Go to school, go to college. Then worry about kids. That's an order from daddy. <img src=smilies/director.gif>

i think kids are for a couple in love that are committed for the long haul -- married couples fall under this category potentially, as well as other life-committed partners.
but i think it should be a couple in a stable relationship with a good teamwork ethic. also my personal opinion is that the couple spend quite a while enjoying their relationship together and letting it grow and mature before discussion of kids even comes into the picture much.
as for myself, kids are a responsibility that I do not want, and will not want, unless that day comes down the road where I find myself in a situation meeting the above mentioned criteria.
that being said, I don't have my eye on the prize for kids, yet. i admit that someday I will probably want to raise a couple to pass on my blood and feel like a bigger part of this thing called life. but if the circumstances never work out? meh.

Granted, I'm afraid of turning out like my parents..
I don't want that.. Plus I never want to have to worry about not having enough money or food for my kids, I never want to tell them no to something.. yes yes I'll have spoiled rotten kids so maybe it's for the better that I don't have them.. And I never ever ever ever ever want my hubby to feel like he's second best to anything, I never want to get caught up in that I don't want to get caught up in the means of everyday life, and forget what magical wonderful love brought them into this world..

Heh...well, I wasn't sure at first (in some ways I'm still not sure I'm ready) but the more I think about it the more I actually want to have a kid. All I know is that he/she is gonna inherit my Shonen Jump collection. (Yes, I am that much of a geek)

I'm worried about this, specifically my mom. I mean, I can understand, and sometimes she IS justified for being how she is, but after a certain point you need to let your kid have some breathing room.

I'm going to try to get mine to say "Linux." I'd see if I can get it to be it's first word, but usually before a baby can say full words, they just move their lips and pronounce vowel sounds. This is why many babies can say "mah mah" "pah pah" or "dah dah" early on.
