My parents own this old 1989 Nissan Sentra and I installed a new receiver and speakers about 1-2 weeks ago. Today my sister gets home from school and notices that the back window is "missing". I look inside and the left speaker is missing, the right speaker is bent, and the receiver is halfway pulled out. wtf? What idiot tried to steal my sound system? It was only Jensen speakers worth about $15 each, and they only took one of them. What the hell is he going to do with 1 speaker? He couldnt get the other speaker out because I had that one drilled into the frame of the car, but he just HAD to bend it. From my reasoning, the theif only had a flathead screwdriver, and couldn't get the phillips head screws off. It better still work, but we'll have to buy new speakers anyway <img src=smilies/banghead.gif>.
The only reason he didn't get the receiver out was because I screwed it onto a metal support at the rear end of the receiver.
But what really pisses me off is that I put so much time into installing the system (because it was my first time and I wanted to learn how) and some idiot breaks the window and tries to steal the cheap speakers with a flathead screwdriver. Well, at least all the extra time I spent trying to make it perfect and durable prevented him from taking 2 out of 3 of the components. I'll bet the most expensive damage was to the window. I live in a nice neighborhood and I never thought this would happen, I could have parked the car in the garage.
Oh btw, it happend at around 2PM out in front of my house in broad daylight where anyone driving by could see. Why did I have to robbed by a REALLY STUPID thief. At least IF it was a normal theif he would have seen that the $15 speakers weren't worth the risk. And, even if he did want to steal them, he probably wouldn't just take one speaker and leave the other one behind.
