What is it with college students - actually, no, not necessarily college students, but people in gneraly - trying to be 'ghetto' by shortening words nowadays, with J-Lo, P-Diddy, and stuff like that?

Today, this one guy who obviously thought himself to be quite cool, goes up to the lady taking orders at the campus Burger King and goes, "Yeah, I'll have a Whopper 'J'." So after he ordered, I stepped up to the order-lady and said, "Yeah, I'll have a Whopper with no T, C, a large F, and a Diet C."

Judging by the look he gave me, which was one of those "If only I could legally deck you" looks, it's only cool when he does it. Still, it was worth the look to point out what an idiot he was being. <img src=smilies/thumb.gif>

I have no idea and it pisses me off to. Hell most of the people you see acting like this would get beatdown, robbed, or killed and if they were lucky they'ld end up just running out crying if they were dropped off in the middle of a real ghetto. They here these songs and shit and think since they're a fan then they must be cool and streetwise and truth is they haven't got a fucken clue about living in a place where death and extreme poverty are a way of life.

I just want to slap these kids sometimes just to wake their stupid asses up. <img src=smilies/magbiggrin.gif>

They did a sketch on "Chapelle Show" where the kid was listening to a rap cd and starting talking like that, so he dropped him off in the middle of the ghetto and told him to "go be wtih his homies". God I need to buy the first season of that eventually.

What these kids with the pants like that now don't realize is that the kids who were doing that originally weren't doing it for style but because they were so poor there mothers would by their pants a couple sizes to big because they were more than likely so poor they couldn't afford to buy new pants every year for growing kids.
Hell when I was growing up my father made sure that my shoes were a size bigger than I needed and so were all my clothes so me and my brothers and sisters wouldn't outgrow them for at least a year but when you got 4 kids you cut corners whereever you can and that includes clothing. <img src=smilies/magbiggrin.gif>

actually, i heard from a fairly reliable source (well, a room full of black people discussing the matter) that it actually started in prison. when they'd prostitute other prisoners' asses for general consumption, they'd mark the bitches by making them wear their pants hanging off their asses.
