By the time you all read this, I'll be on my way to a plane to Zimbabue. The recent discussions on the Backroom have made me decide that I really am a zealot, unfit for such a free thinking society as America.
As such, I am going to do mission work for the unwashed african hordes. Wish me luck everyone!

why don't you just go to jerusalem and nail yourself to a cross instead? i'm sure you could find two other martyrs to complete the effect.

Why do you think I NEVER visit that forum...it's just asking for trouble. Don't believe me? Take a peek at the attached picture.

Just slowly double click *click the second time just before the forum starts to load* and all messages in the forum will appear read. At least it works that way with my 56K modem, did it accidentally a few times.
If you want to read the not so touchy subjects just stay clear of the ones Danoz and Spacetiger are participating in, saves a lot of reading to.

I'd like to save even more time by not visiting that forum at all. I'm perfectly content not getting angry all the time anymore...that forum would most likely get me banned or piss me off to no end.

I generally stay out of the Backroom forum. Know why? BECAUSE THIS IS A FUCKING EMULATION SITE. The General Emulation forum isn't touched often, everyone fucking posts in the Backroom! I don't understand it. And our own staff members cause lots of shit in the forum too. I hate that forum.

I think a better indicator is the number of posts. The subjects that get really bad usually accumulate more than about 20 posts after a few days. Really, though, if he can't handle controversy, he should stay out of the Backroom. Part of the point of it is to separate the politics and arguments from the rest of ZMD so that casual users can avoid having to read through long flamewars. To that end, I think it does a fairly good job.

Posts don't indicate shit with you 2. If you 2 get going a person in flat mode could have 20 minitor sized screens of reading/scanning to do with just 6 replies each since you both sit there and take apart each other line by line while also quoting the previous post instead of just responding to one point like most people who reply. Hell with some threads where you guys get going my scrollbar slider on my browser looks like a large dot and that's just showing 30 posts/replies per page.

I think one point is rarely enough to capture the important aspects of a political issue. If the world were that simple, it wouldn't have so many problems.
It doesn't matter, though. If the amount of reading were the only issue, he could just skip over the threads that were really long. I think he's more concerned about how controversial the subject of the thread is. I'm having a really lengthy discussion with icenine0 in the backroom right now and it's nowhere near as inflammatory as the threads with 100 replies from 15 different people, all shouting their views on homosexuality.

Except for that little statement he made about Indian tech workers being better than US ones but better doesn't mean the same as 1/10th the wage for the same work in my book.
