i'm trying to play dracula x for the pc-engine but i'm not succeding. i've found some other topics about pc-engine and this particular game on the forum, but i haven't seen nothing about the problem i'm having.

what happens is, i have downloaded a .rar file which comes with some .mp3 files and two .cue images (and some tracks are on .iso format). one of the .cue is supposed to be for the .mp3 files and the other one is supposed to be for the same .mp3 files but converterd to .wav.
well, since i couldn't play with the mp3 cue, i converted the .mp3 files to .wav using winamp's disk writer, but it also didn't work.

the first problem i had was: i can't mount the images on virtual drive. i tried with alcohol 120%, and if i try the .cue for the .wav, it says "Sampling rate must be 44100.", whatever that means. if i try mounting the .mp3 cue, it says... well, my alcohol 120% is in portuguese, and i can't translate it to english very well, but it says something like "This kind of [something] is still not supported.".
i can't mount none of them on daemon either (he just says "can't mount the image.")
note that both my alcohol 120% and daemon are the latest versions.

still, when i try to burn the .mp3 cue to a cd, alcohol 120% says "file format not supported.".
but when i try to burn the .wav cue, it is succesfully burned. but when i try to play it, okay, the game loads, i can really play. but besides of magic engine saying "bad pce cd" or something, the big problem is that the music goes extremely fast. think about bloodlines reaching the end and restarting in just about 10 seconds. the same goes for the character voices, the subtitles not even started appearing, the speech already finished.
i tried it on magic engine and ootake also.

what should i do about it?? is this a common problem??
is my rom corrupted or something?? i have two roms which i downloaded from two different places, and both have the same problems.
still, i have already tried changing the cd burning speed from 4X to 48X, and they all give me the same problem.
what can i do about it??

i'm sorry for the long post, but i think it is better that i give more details as possible, although most of the info i gave might be useless, but thanks for reading.

You could try grabbing an ISO without the MP3/WAV bullshit. I really hate it when people do this.

Reminder: do not ask where to get it.

is there something like that?? i thought all pc-engine ROMs were like this one i have. with the mp3/wav thing.
okay, when i got time, i'm gonna look for it, i don't think it is gonna be easy... anyway, when i get this to work, be it with a new ROM or with the one i have, i will post here to let you know.
meanwhile, if someone have another ideia, please post. thanks.

yes, it is femto. i use it on other forums, and i think you're the first one to recognize it.

EDIT:
and thanks, reaper man.

Iīve found a verified mdf/mds image of the game within seconds - so itīs not that hard to find the game. Google is your friend...

As a work around, you could *probably* use the CUE sheet to burn this to a CD, and then use the CD to play the game. I think it'll work in burning programs such as Imgburn.

i tried burning it, but, like i said, the game loads, and i can play, but there's the problem with the sound speeding up.

don't know if it's so easy, i found the same image that was giving me trouble in two our three different locations. and still, i haven't found this mdf. maybe i'm not looking well, but i did find something here that works. this another image comes inside of an .exe that installs the game, and the you can load an executable, that emulates only this particular game, and it's working fine here, so i think this topic is solved.
i just hope, in the future, if i try to run any other pc-engine cd game here, i won't have this problem again.

anyway, thanks Reaper man, pipes, schmocke and The 9th Sage.
