View Full Version : First paycheck rouses questions

I got my first paycheck from my new job. The thing about it though is that I'm not sure what to make of it. I got 2 checks actually. One of them looks like it's for my first 2 weeks, though they seem to either be incorrectly tallying my overtime or tally it weirdly. It says I worked 86.67 regular hours and 3 overtime, when in actuality I worked 79 regular hours (left early on a slow Friday when orders stopped coming) and about 10 or 11 overtime hours. Keep in mind, overtime in California means beyond 8 hours in a work day, not beyond 40 in a week. So that was a little baffling. Then to cap it off, I have the 2nd check, which is for 40 regular hours. I'm guessing they make that one under the assumption that that's how my 3rd week of employment will be and so they're paying me for the 3rd week, but even then, by yesterday, they would have noticed that I had 1 hour of overtime, which they didn't document. So I guess I'll sort it out on Monday.

It's ironic...I really fucked up in being late yesterday (late by about 35 minutes cuz I overslept), and my supervisor told me we were going to "go for a little walk" (I got flashbacks of all those mobster movies where "going for a little walk" means they kill you), and so I thought she was gonna chew me out for being late. Thankfully, I think the fact that I processed the most orders on Thursday helped me evade the chewout. The talk was about me interrupting her a lot when I ask her for help. I hate doing it too, but it's a matter of not wanting to let an order sit, and just now I'm finally reaching a point where I can really multitask with this stuff (I'll fucking smoke all the other order placers when I get crazy with multitasking, trust me!). Then there's the other problem...one of my bad habits is picking/scratching. I'll pick and scratch everything, unfortunately including my nose. So yea...I need to quit that.

So...with this first paycheck, what's the first thing I'm buying? Another domain name, ironically. I felt like I couldn't pass it up though. I'll preface it by saying that the last one I barely felt like I could pass up on, crook.tv (good candidate for an America's Most Wanted clone kind of site, not to mention versatile), is now taken (looks like 4 days ago), and I saw it untaken only about a month ago. So yea...when I saw that supur.com was untaken, I had to jump on it. I was thinking "well, even if it is a misspelling of super, I'm sure it's taken by now" and was expecting to see only .us, .ws, and maybe .info left, yet they were all left. I have no idea what I'll do with it, but who knows.
