View Full Version : My mother could use some prayers...

Tomorrow she's going into surgery for a total hysterectomy. It turns out that she has a bunch of ovarian tumors that, while benign, are still dangerous. I'm hoping that this will be a routine surgery and nothing will happen, but there are always chances that something can go wrong, so any prayers that you guys can spare would be appreciated.

Well, thanks for all the support, you fuckers. She's doing fine, no thanks to you assholes.

Sorry, I did wish her well, and I think I typed a reply with something like "Good luck, I hope it turns out ok", but then I thought that maybe you just wanted only exactly what you said -- prayers --, and would be angry at something you'd maybe cynically perceive as a trite attempt to make a show of sympathy, or something like that, so I never posted it.

In case you've never noticed, people always feel like they're walking on eggshells when any short-tempered person has a very personal crisis. They worry that his current state, the person might be all the more likely to take something the wrong way. So they just give the person some space because they're worried that they might just upset the person more if they try to talk to him or her about it.

Being hot-tempered has its costs. People keep their distance, unsure of how the person will react to sympathy.

At the time, I had time to do one of 2 things: actually pray for you and her, or post a response. Guess which one of those things I did...

Dude, the site's been down for the past few days. It didn't affect me, but a lot of people couldn't even see the board. Anyway, I do send my best wishes and I hope that things turn out well.

The prayers were for your mother, not you. I didn't realize we had to take credit for doing something like praying.

Next time I'll be sure to brag and carry on about how I helped. <img src=smilies/headshake.gif>

Well, jeez... thank you Swamp, and thank you, Paladyn, and thank you those of you who really prayed for her. It's thanks to your prayers that she's making a swift recovery. Even so, when nobody responds to the post - even to say, "You have my sympathies," it most definitely implies that nobody cares. No, damn it, don't try to act all self-righteous and deny it, all of you know damn well that silence implies indifference.

Hit the nail on the head for me. Any response I gave would've been insincere and decidedly hollow.

The fact that I don't tell Happy Birthday to someone doesn't mean that I hope that he'll have a bad day.

I'm curious: When you pray do you use curse words? Also, if your mother hadn't turned out okay, would you curse God and stop believing in Him?

<a href=http://www.biblegateway.com/cgi-bin/bible?passage=JAS+3:9-10&language=english&version=NIV&showfn=on&showxref=on>James 3:9-10</a>

9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.
