Hey everybody!
I just registered here. :)
I downloaded the SSF-emulator today, which is supposed to be the best for Sega Saturn games. Well, when I'm starting the program it looks very strange. I've taken a screenshot on how it looks, please follow the link below:

As you can see, it's not looking right.. and I can't access Options etc, to configure the program with the BIOS-file etc.
As far as I know, it's supposed to look like this:

I've got a Core2Quad 2,4GHz with 4GB Ram, Direct-X 9 and Windows XP.
I can't figure out what's wrong here.. Any ideas? :erm:
Thanks in advance!
/Dave

Is there any way you can resize the Window? (grabbing the corner and dragging for example)

Nope :\ I tried that before, but without success. It seems to be locked to this size!
Edit:
I tried again now.. still no success with the resize. But just under "hardware" I managed to click the Option-button from a pretty hidden pixel.. But when I try and open the Option-window the program "needs" to be shutdown by windows and it closes. So there seem to be some bigger problem besides the resize thing. But since this problem has been with every version I've tried of SSF, I really can't understand what's wrong..

It looks like that when I first open it. Then it changes to a full sized window. Then it crashes.
Have you tried dragging & dropping an ISO onto the icon to see if that does anything? I don't have any Saturn games handy to test it with myself.

Huh...when I tried it, it was like that but a moment later the window became a regular size (it seemed to be working normally)...I'm not really sure what to suggest here. I'm using XP here, everything (like DirectX 9) up to date...what OS are you running?

I'm running XP with DirectX 9.0c. I have an onboard Intel graphics chip, so that could be the problem. I wasn't actually intending to run SSF, I just wanted to see if I experienced the same problem as bonzai. (And I see that he didn't list his video card with the rest of his specs, so perhaps that's the problem.)

I'm running Windows XP with Direct-X 9.
Hmm, strange that it worked after a while for you.. :\ I've tried and google alot on this, but I can't find an answer anywhere. I found an old thread someone had posted on another forum with the exact same problem as me. But that person never got an answer to the question either.

I tried it and it's small like that for about 10 seconds, and then it resizes. I wonder what the emulator is doing in that time period, as the problem is probably there.
Have you tried updating direct-x just incase. It says it needs ''DirectX9.0c'', so maybe you have 9.0 or something... Just a thought, I could be completely wrong.

What video card do you have?
Just a thought, I could be completely wrong.
Probably so, since I'm having the exact same problem and specified that I'm using 9.0c.

I just check the exact version of my Direct-X. It's DirectX 9.0c (as you mentioned that was required).. Hmm, this is really strange! But yeah, there's probably something wrong there somewhere.. Do you use 9.0c, Maximum Potion?

Yeah, I'm on 9.0c too... Does any one know what an emulator like that would need to check / activate before anything else?

Ah yeah, let's get a video card list going.
I've got a Radeon HD 4670.

*edit haha i came home from my grave shift and read this at face value. sleep deprived enough to think you'd completely derailed the topic. ;P

I've got a list of down revved video gear i use (always behind the times):
Geoforce 6600 GT - gaming/gen purpose box
Radeon Xpress 200 (onboard) - music box
Geoforce FX 5200 - gf's box
Radeon 8500LE - emu box
also have a few even older cards lying around including a Rage Pro 128 All in Wonder PCI. Like to have enough gear on hand to build a shitty PC if I have the use or feel like tinkering.
So does SSF work for you? ;)

Yes it does (on my 6600GT box). Mostly just on RPGs and 2D games like the super-cool Nippon only Symphony of the Night. Games like Clockwork Night or Astal that use a lot of 3D in an action environment are terribly unplayable.
that's on an Athlon 3200+ w 2meg DDR.

I think I have the solution. My problem was similar, but I also had a dialog box pop up complaining about Xaudio2.cpp not being found and some stuff.
All I had to do was run the directx updater thingy. Prototype seems to have this problem, too. I found this fix as a fix for Prototype, but it works just fine for SSF. Both XP Pro x86 and 7 Ultimate x64 were fixed by the same updater, too. (I just built a new computer, and I'm dualbooting with both OSes.)

They said Saturn emulation could never be done. Yeah right. Fighters Megamix and Daytona USA CCE run great after I did the maximum compatibility option. Daytona's got background flicker, but you don't notice that when you're racing! Anyway, I forgot how crappy Daytona looks compared to the direct3d patched Daytona USA Deluxe for the PC. Oh well, it's still good times :)
I've got to try more of my games later!

Ah, so it was perhaps DirectX? I'm surprised it didn't shoot up an error or something.

I guess the DirectX error was "xaudio2" even though it didn't come right out and say it was a DirectX problem.
Why doesn't Windows Update deal with stuff like this anyway?

Oh well yes, in your case that was it....but in the case of the person who opened the thread, he doesn't speak of any kind of error like that.

Hm... well, maybe it will still fix his problem, should he ever see this topic again.

I have the same problem as the OP and the given solution is changing nothing for me.
Any other ideas?
