A funny thing happened to me today. I was at Videotron (which has a built in MicroPlay) and I was looking at the GB / GBA / SNES / N64 section, and I found that fake pokémon game, 'Pokémon Diamond' for GBC at $2.99.

I know that it's really some other game (the name escapes me at the moment), something: Power. The point is, i never thought that I would see that game in any store. Ever.

The funny thing is, I told the guy that I was interested in his unlicenced game, and he promptly informed me that it was in fact endorsed by nintendo. I tried to point out subtle differences, such as how it says 'GAME' rather than 'GAMEBOY' on it, or how you could feel that it was made with a different plastic, but alas he insisted that it was an official pokémon game. Not that I cared, I mostly found it to be quite funny.

I don't know, I just felt like posting this story.

Is that the one that's Telefang? That's a pretty funny find. I'd buy it if I saw it cheap as well. Nothing like a terribly translated unlicensed pirate game. :P

That's the one!! Such a fun game. I may have to replace the save battery, but luckily, they forgot to put on one of those fancy japanese screws on the cart.

Anyways, I always thought that it was a myth. It was a surreal experience.

So I opened it up, and it took me approx. 25 seconds to 'fix' the save battery. Including screwing and unscrewing time. The people who made it were too lazy to solder the battery on, and it slid out of it's holster. Good times.

You can thank me by fellating me later.

What a privilege.

I almost want it for the translation...it sounds incomprehensible and pretty hillarious.

Unfortunately, owning the game turned out to be no more than a collector's item. The translation was apparantly so poorly done that I can't load games (it wasn't the battery), you can't 'call' your monsters, and many other features are broken / missing.

I guess they didn't pay any attention to the space in the rom and changed some random bytes or something. It's no big deal, I have a GB smart card anyways.

I heared that there was a fan translation of Telefangs speed and power, but I haven't had any luck thusfar... I was hoping to play Telefang Speed tonight...

Aha!! So i bought a new save battery and it saves now. Apparantly some of the cartridges were ''Unable to load a saved game'', so I was a little worried that it was poor programing, but I suspect that it was due to the fact that the battery is not soldered in place.

However, I still lack the ability to call my Denju, and I cannot name my character. I don't really know what calling a Denju does, but I guess it's playable.

Yes, now I can learn engrish.

Actually, next semester I have an integrating seminar class where I have to write a paper on something related to languages as it is tied to my program. Perhaps I could do 25 pages on engrish... Could be interesting...

I speak to people daily who speak quite fluent "Frengrish" (french-engrish) [phone support, yay hehe]

Maximum Potion

We call it ''Frenglish'' or ''Franglais'', as the 'R' in 'Engrish' is symbolic of the japanese mixing up the letters resulting in 'Cornelia' and 'Corneria'.
