View Full Version : College can fucking DIE

Here is a reccomendation to anyone who wants to go to college: DON'T. Ther people here will do everything they casn to collect money from you while fucking you up the ass in the hopes you quit and have nothing to show for it.

Here's the situation: I work for Civil Engineering. THe advisor there decided that in november, when classes were to be registered for, he would help me out and ease some fears I had by signing my up for classes one week early.

So we did exactly that: I chose my classes and he gave me the seats in them. I thought everything would be fine.

THen today I go to check my schedule for next week. and ALL MY CLASSES ARE GONE! The registrar's office decided "oops, you were signed up before your appointment. I will clear you of all classes and send no notice to you or the guy who signed you up."

After an hour of rigamarole, I learned that I was punished for somehting i didn't realize was "wrong" and the registrar's office did not find it worth thier time to tell me of thier actions.

So, it was decided that I would just deal with it whenever I found out, presumably the first day of spring, that I have no classes at all to take.

I swear, I fucking hate school. CAN I GO ONE MONTH WITHOUT SOMETHING THREATENING MY EDUCATION AND FUTURE!?!?!?!??!?!?!?

Oof, that sounds rough, SharkESP. Stick it to the man. And by man, I mean the registrar's office. Did you try explaining as politely as possible that you had no idea what you did was wrong? Sounds like bullshit coming from their offices, honestly. That teacher has bound to see something in you to give you that extra step early.

Go see the Dean, it sounds like you got screwed. There will be a sane person in management who will hear you out.

That's awful. Talk to whomever you have to, for as long as it takes, to get this rectified. (For one thing, try to get your advisor to help, since he'll probably feel partly responsibility for the situation even though this isn't what he intended, and he sounds helpful anyway.)

Often the only way something gets done in a bureaucratic system is if you show the people there that you're willing to nag them day and night, and complain to whomever you have to (including superiors), until they do their job right.

Are they not classes that you can either add now or get add codes for? Or have you already readded them? Either way, tell the dean what happened...that teacher shouldn't have misled you like that.

The classes could easily have been readded when my original date, November 19th, came up... IF i had been notified of the actions that were taken!

Am I expected to check my classes every week after I am added to them, to make sure that I am not chosen for removal? I guarentee the first thing asked to me about this will be "Why have you waited so long to rectify the situation?"

Sean apologized for it, and placed the blame squarely on himself (since he suggested scheduling me in early in the first place)

Funny thing about nagging as long as it takes: Sean's boss suggested that I bug people as long as possible, even after registration times are closed. It will only cost me "Late Registration Fees"

SHE EXPECTS ME TO PAY CASH TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION!...

I haven't met this sane person yet. THis doesn't bring into account all the times has:
A: Refused me scholarship money based on money I owed on my rent contract (Installment plan). Three seperate times I have not been given my book advance because I "owe over 2 grand to the school" (really 4 $500 payments my contract says aren't due until the first of each month)

B: Failed to charge me rent one month, then held up my registration because I was late on my rent (literally, I was turned away when i tried to pay rent in september)

C: Had class registration withheld, without reason or explination, for two days. This delayed my degree track by a full semester.

D: Forced my mom to pay $1000 a semester for a mandatory freshman meal plan, then serve up the shittiest food imaginable, including "noodles" made of actual styrafoam!

Do not go to USF (South Florida). In fact, don't go to college. Become a crack whore. You will meet better administrative talents and more compitent people.
