A little search engine for mp3's. I typed in Foo Fighters in the first box and got many songs listed I've never seen on most mp3 sites. Figured I'd share.

All that does is search for open directories, you can modify the search to look for any kind of file you want. I read about it in 2600 several months ago, so I assume people figured out you could do that quite awhile ago.

I'd probably be able to find anything this thing could if I wanted. I found though since I got an mp3 player about a year ago I only like about a 100 songs and I tend to just skip through the other ones after I've heard them a few times.

It's true that the
-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:"index of" +"last modified" +"parent directory" +description +size +(extension1|extension2|etc.) +"name"
Google method isn't new, but the site does also seem to bring together some other useful specialized searches. I was not previously aware of the anime stream search, for example.

However, any sort of search that I expect to use much, I make into an Opera custom search (one can do the same in FF) so that I can just type into my address bar a key-letter and then the search term. Something that I find is particularly useful is having a custom search for archive.org; if a website is down, I just insert an h before the URL in the address bar and hit enter.

...Hmm, I suppose I could also put "go to archive.org version" as a right-click option. I did something similar for transloading images to ImageShack (for occasions when I don't wish to hotlink images from other sites) -- I edited my custom menu.ini file so that I can right-click on any image to easily transload it.

If anyone else here uses Opera (yeah, I realize that's a big "if"), and is interested, for the ImageShack context menu option, what you do is:

Make a custom menu.ini file (Preferences> Advanced tab> Toolbars> Menu Setup> Select the default menu setup and click Duplicate),
Exit Opera
Go to your Opera settings directory and open the custom menu.ini file in notepad, kwrite, scite or whatever you use for editing plain text files.
Put
Item, "Upload image to ImageShack" =Copy image address & Go to page, "http://imageshack.us/transload.php?url=%c"
in both the [Image Popup Menu] and the [Image Link Popup Menu] sections of the file.

I didn't try it but from what I see this is a very nice site and I like how they separate the searches in types.
