Lately my old TV was acting up more than usual even for it. Normally a TV's quirks wouldn't bother me but this TV was my grandmothers before she died and it's over 20 years old. Now the old TV ran but when it takes 5 to 10 attempts to get it to shut off without unplugging it that's a problem. When you normally run it with color, contrast, picture, and brightness set at maximum so you can see the picture and even then if there is a night or outspace scene in a show the picture goes all wavy like watching HBO scrambled.

Well I mentioned to my boss that I saw two 25" color TV's for $75 each "they look about 6 yrs old or so" at the second hand store down the street and I was headed over after work to see if I could talk them down to $50 for one.

Talk about mentioning something to the right person at the right time. He tells me he has a 27" color TV that's 3 years old just sitting around collecting dust since he just replaced all his TV's with Flatscreens just 2 years ago.

Now I'm short on cash usually with the recession and all and he knows it so he made me an offer I couldn't pass up on. He tell me if I mow his yard 3 times "he hates using the lawn mower" he'd give me the TV. He gave me the TV that very night since he knows I will keep my word and now I'm watching a perfect color picture for the first time in years at home.

I just got home 3 hours ago from mowing his yard since it's supposed to be almost 90 degrees out today I started at 7am when it was only 65 degrees out. Got done in about an hour and now I got 2 more times and I own a TV outright. This ended up being a real good week. Oh yeah I quit smoking to 6 days ago so I'm also saving like $80 a week on top of everything else. It's all good.

That is a good deal. I'm going to start hinting around I'm looking for a faster computer and see who needs some yard work, painting, ect. Heck ya never know if you might get lucky with some guy just got a new pc or is getting rid of his kids since he caught him downloading warez/pron and is getting rid of the new pc as a punishment, or maybe I'll ask around about a bike or weightbench so I can get some exercise. :D

That seems a tad severe. ;)

Actually that happened with the pc. I found it outside and took the hard drive, fans, heatsink, dvd drive and put the pc back in the trash pile outside for the garbage man to get later. 2 weeks later I found out from the guy who's best friends with the father that threw it out that the pc was a working 2.4 ghz less than 6 months old. The guy caught his kid doing some shit on MySpace and threw it out. I nearly shit myself when I realized I had basically taken a bunch of parts off a fully functional almost new pc that was over 3 x faster than the one I was using. Don't underestimate what an angry parent will do to punish their kid. My father over the years gave away my bike when I was 13 and again when I was 15, gave away the family atari since we kept whining to play when football was on "back in the 70's". He did other stuff I can't think of but if you pushed him he would push back more even if he screwed himself over in the process as long as he felt he made his point.

Heh, I was just joking about the fact that the absence of an apostrophe in the word "kids" made the statement mean that the father got rid of his children because of the infraction.
