...to present my stict distaste of the fucking AMERICAN Economy as of now. The fact that I've turned in over thirty (and yes, I've lost count) fucking applications to various companies ranging from frickin' WALMART, all the way to BLOCKBUSTER, and I haven't received a damned call back.

Worldwide Flight Services, hiring in 3 to 5 new employees on the afternoon shift from 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm at 8 bucks an hour. No return call. Even after several attempts to an inquiry of the progress of my application, nothing. In the word of many of my friends, "FUCK YOU AND THE HORSE YOU RODE IN ON."

Wal-Mart of Taylor. Hiring tens of employees for the Holiday season, plus those who succeed thru the Holiday season, remain on staff. 4 to 6 days a week. $7.50 an hour. Turned in an application, and haven't received a return call. Plus two references who work IN THE DAMNED STORE. FAWK YEW TOO WALMART.

Radio Shack == Same story.
BlockBuster == Same story.
Circuit City == Same story.
Sears Hardware == Same story.
Meijers in Belleville AND Taylor == Same story.

Best Buy. This'll be interesting.. but I'm not getting into it... same god damned miserable story, with an enlongated timeline, and a pitiful story about how shitty of staff they have.

So.. as you see.. I'm tired of this shit. I need a new car.. I give my van literally 2 months. DarkMacc knows this. Many people know this. Yet I can't do SHIT because no one will hire a 'technical college' student. Fuck this shit.. I'm gonna go whore myself out on the damned street.

Here's to the American Economy.

I know exactly how you feel, I filled out tons of applications and only got 3 interviews and this was from june up till 3 weeks ago when I finally got a job at a factory where I had a friend give me a great referal for me and that's the only reason I got the job. I applied at walmart, several pizza places, gas stations, everywhere, and some of these place I could be a manager at and they didn't even call me back or anything and I'm 40 with tons of experience to boot. I find the best thing to finding a job is friends, you need to get a friend who works someplace to give you a great referal like I did and you need friends for references on your application who will answer the phone professionally and give you a real good reference without sounding immature or like they're lying while doing it and that can be harder than you think. Never put party friends or basically anyone under 35 down for a reference since they usually don't have the phone skills an older person would have. I recommend going to anyone you know that works so hard you never see them to try to get you into where they work since if they are getting that many hours the boss has to respect them since average workers are not usually given as much overtime as the diehard ones when overtime is a gift a most places nowadays if your not on salary. Good luck with that searching and don't give up since a lot of companies don't hire till after the holidays but come January you'll start to see a lot more ads in the paper if the usual hiring trends are the same as years past.

If it is the one on Wayne road by some chance, there has been a problem with apps going through. Also if you fail the psych test your app is canned automatically. If not, ignore what I just said.

allright, so how many of these places have you returned to to apply and bug again?
how were you dressed when you went?
did you present yourself with an outgoing persona?
did you call back and ask about the status of your application?
did you ask to speak witht he manager about thier hiring status, and who to speak to specifically about thier employment needs?

If you're close to Northern New Jersey, I can hook you up with a full time position at Dunkin' Donuts. 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 7 am until 3 pm. No benefits but you get tips.

More like nowhere around here cares to hire anyone under 30. And you, good sir, are the one acting like a "sniveling little cock" by responding as such.

Business Suit consisting of dress slacks white button up shirt, tie and dress jacket.

How is your resume?

Are you over qualified? It sounds silly but some places wont take you if you are overqualified.

Are you applying to the right places? If your a former tech student you might want to try applying to places in your field. Do some research and look for technical oriented companies.

Are you applying to an add in the paper?

I find that pretty useless. To many applicants. It seems best to get your name in there when they are not actively seeking outside help.

Yeah, post your resume here, edit your real name and address (minus the city/state of course), and I may tell you of some good jobs you prolly qualify for.

>Are you over qualified? It sounds silly but some places wont take you if you are overqualified.
Very true, has happened to me.

I have been applying for THREE YEARS for a state job. And finally, I got it :) Not in the field I used to work before (programming/computer science), but one that exploits one of my abilities (bilingual English/Spanish).

>Are you applying to the right places? If your a former tech student you might want to try applying to >places in your field. Do some research and look for technical oriented companies.

Do this if you don't have a lot of experience in your field. Otherwise you may try other fields as well...

Never give up, just keep trying...

Overhaul this. You're telling Employers the following with this:

1. I don't want to work a whole lot
2. If you're not a large corporation don't bother me
3. I want lots of promotions
4. I might want you to help pay for possibly unrelated traning, and will certainly want you to go out of your way to accomodate my schedule, whatever that may be.
5. I have no idea what industry I want to work in.

> 05/01-02/02 Computer Connection USA Westland, MI

The first thing in your list of skills and overwhelming challenges you had to face that you think of is sweeping the floor. Yeah.

> Organization of stock and supplies
> Customer Service Representative

Make all bullet points similar.

> Constructed new computer systems from Original Equipment
> Manufacturer (OEM) parts from AMD, Intel,
> NVIDIA, Plextor, Creative Labs, etc.
> Telephone Support on Computer Connection USA Nighthawk
> Custom Systems

Try something more like:

*Participated in the daily operations of a Computer retail location.

*Built Personal computers based on customer specifications.

*Performed upgrades on existing computer systems.

*Advised customers as to best upgrade path for their systems.

*Performed in-house and on-site diagnostic and repair services.

*Assisted Customers by providing technical support via telephone.

> Interests

Employers generally don't care what your interests are. The only possible exceptions include hobbies that relate or supplement essential job functions, ones that exhibit an exceptional ability to learn new things or a willingness to persevere in a task, or ones that just happen to be favorites of the person considering you for employment.

In short, I think a bit of resume polishing would do you alot of good.

Okies. I'll do just that.
The worst thing about it is, a supposed 'resume construction instructor' told me that it was one of the better resumes he saw. Now I see WHY he was dismissed from the school.

Absolutely and I'm glad he agreed also. I didn't even use a resume since for the average job out there they are totally useless. I more or less said I'll work and shift, any job, and gave a bunch of the skills I had and some good refences. I just thought of what they wanted to see on an application with nothing extra to make them think I'm overqualified or underqualified for that matter, I wanted them to see I was the perfect candidate for the job that was available and I was willing to work there forever, total lie but it worked.
