creating a old mame romset from a new one

ok i got the complete 0.132 romset and want to have the roms work for the xbox mame emulator MAMEoX which i believe is based on 0.84.b3. If i get a dat file for 0.84.b3 and run the roms through ClrMamePro will this rebuild them for that version?

sorry, I'm not that familiar with mame...

edit: here's an idea. why don't you take a shot in the dark, do what you think may work, and see what happens?

If I knew for sure I'd help you...I mean, logically it seems as though if you can do it one way you could do the reverse, but I've honestly never tried it before.
