Seriously. I used to be on Dial-up for the longest time, with only a single phone line in the house. So I was only allowed on from 8PM at night until 11PM. In light of that, I usually did everything I could to maximize that time.

Now that I have DSL, and I'm online all the time, it's just...weird. I've had DSL for quite a while now, 5 -6 months, but I still can't get used to it. I'm always feeling guilty for not downloading something, or checking something out, simply because I've wired myself to make 100% use out of the time that I'm on the internet.

Is there any way to cure this? Does anyone else know what I'm talking about? It's driving me insane. I'm burned out, but still addicted and needing to do something, out of the irrational fear that my connection might somehow die and never come back.

The slow destruction of true free p2p is just reinforcing this. Now I'm thinking, "why didn't I download more while I had the chance?" It's hopeless.

HAHAHAHA I know just what you feel like. But don't know the cure becuase I don't have broadband. Well My time is up so I heading to bed!

Cable modem here, I've downloaded almost 70GB in less than 6 months, probably closer to 4 months and I always start a bunch of stuff to download before I go to bed. Ben doing this for about a year now. It's seems normal to me, I just want to get my moneys worth and use as much of the bandwidth as I can seeing that I'm paying for it. <img src=smilies/magbiggrin.gif>

It's not hopeless.
I've had DSL at the shop here for three years.
I go through spurts where I don't download anything......
No biggie. Just give it time.

You shoulda seen how much speed chess I played on Yahoo when I got cable connection. Holy shit...you couldn't drag me away from the computer. Now, if I were to get on 56k, I'd be bored off my ass waiting 5 seconds for pages to load. It's crazy.

I have ADSL and I'm downloading more I can store! I have an 80GB HD but I'm currently downloading an entire MAME set. Version 0.76u2, with all of the CHDs. I've downloaded nearly 10GB in four days.

I seriously need a bigger HD.

Solution:

Get a full time job and/or school
Manage your time to study for school
Get a full time live in girlfriend

Magically all your time evaporates and you cannot spend all your time on the internet! So, like before, you make the best of your time online because you have so very little!
