Gargoyles Quest GB-Classic Hack

Hello guys :)

I hope you professionals can help / realize this. May you know the old classic GB game Gargoyles Quest. It was one of my favorites.

I have a wish. It is possible to hack that ROM for starting the game with all powers (live, abilities, flying-length, jump-height ...)?? I would be really glad to get that hacked rom file. It is an old childhood dream :rolleyes:

May hacking a savegame could be another way... I have no idea.

What do you say? Can you make it?

Sorry but I have only managed to change the number of lives and the energy level.
I upload a ips file to have 9 lives and 9 energy level.

The file ips is to Gargoyle's_Quest_-_Ghosts'n_Goblins_(UE)_[!] version of the game.

You can change too the energy level with a hexadecimal editor.
If you changes the byte 434 in decimal (value 02) you'll have
more energy.
The byte 433 is 3E and the byte 434 is 02.

You can change the number of lives. If you changes the byte 469 you´ll have more lives.
The byte 468 is 3E and the byte 469 is 01.

3E 01: ld a,$01
A=01 (Number of lives=1)

A new ips file is available to download.
The number of lives is 255 (máx level of lives) and energy is 9. The number of lives is show in screen with a symbol but this value is 255.
With 255 lives i think you will end the game.

That should be fairly easy to do with save state hacking. All you need is a save state immediately before obtaining an ability/power-up and another save state immediately after receiving an ability/power-up and then compare the two in a hex editor to see what the differences are. Once you determine where a particular ability is located in a save state, you can modify that location with a save state from the very beginning of the game to add those abilities.

It can probably be done within the ROM, as well, but I have basically no experience with a debugger, so I can't provide much help in that regard. You *could* probably figure it out with corruption but it would likely take forever.

EDIT:
Fine, works all good. But... after the third level.. yeah.. third i think the player get stronger wings by a King in a village. Its the village nearly the glitchy area with the whole. After you get that power its not possible to fly anymore. You can high jump but dont fly.
