okay, my save datas cause my game to stop working when i load them. what gives?

Well no, I was asking if the saves were made on a version earlier than what you are using. If so, that could be the problem.

the game load but it starts to lag and then just stops all together

Starts to lag? O_o Have you used states previously with this game? I suppose it's possible that states just don't work well with this game. I've had problems because of states and some games before (for example, with PCSX2 I was having strange problems with a game that I realized were caused by a weird savestate).

uuum.... okay so i figured it out. i feel really dumb. you have to load the game before the save state otherwise it just lets you play the exact moment in time that you saved.
