Problems with VBA 1.7.2 help!

Hi Guys...
I've got some problems with my VBA i just downloaded...
im trying to run pokemon emerald version (ue)
but... when i open vba it's fine then i open rom and my VBA screen just turns
white and stays white... doesn't matter wat button i press...

Have you tried any other ROMs (do they work)? My first impulse is to ask you if it is a bad ROM, but with more info we can help you better.
