Eh. Don't buy 'em then. You could say that, on the plus side with the Wii you can choose only what you WANT to play.

This topic logically fails. Why? Because Sega is not exclusive to Nintendo they're old enough to run out into the streets and distribute their products to others.

That and the fact that they have been releasing other Sega retro collections on the GBA, PS2, PC, PSP, and so on.

In conclusion Sega is the TF2 spy

Sega doesn't care what you think, kid. The VC isn't "carrying the wii" as much as you think. It's a pretty awesome concept, and it's fun to be able to get stuff I haven't played on an actual console in like 10 years, but it's not that big a money-maker for any of the companies involved. Oh, and for the record, the PS3 and 360 DO have Sonic Tennis.

Personally, I can't wait for the Xbox 360 version to come out (I haven't seen it in stock anywhere, yet), it'll be nice to play Comix Zone in HD.

Uh, in case you forget, they were ardent rivals not so long ago.

Rivals? Well... if I remember right, then SEGA was the company which made it's profit after ATARI and others died in the early console wars.

Then Nintendo came in, like Sony and Microsoft did, as a newcomer. Nintendo is older than all other mentioned companies. They analyzed the market, developed a cheap console (NES) and focused on strong marketing.

SEGA (Service Games!) was a joint venture of US and JP investors. They had only their profits in mind. And they relied on their first success. They underestimated Nintendo.
Sure, SEGA has built great consoles, but they did the same errors as SONY and Microsoft, as well as ATARI and many others.

Today SEGA is nothing more than a publisher. And that's good. Otherwise they would have to quit business. So instead of complaining, that SEGA develops on multiple systems, we should be happy, that they still exist.

Ah well, as a sidenote: SEGA made games for PC many years ago, too. They had their dreamcast out and already published Sonic for PC. So this is nothing new or special. SEGA never made a big deal of it. They just did, what was necessary when they realized, that they are about to lose the console war.

Regarding XBOX360, PS3 and WII: I don't think you can compare them very good. Nintendo just reacted as they always do: build cheap machines and make a good marketing. MS and Sony wanted to win by power. They invested millions just to conquer marketshares. Instead of winning, they see themselves in a situation like US and UdSSR in the cold war. One of them will leave the stage. I'm not sure who, but neither Sony nor MS can hold their position (high costs, low profit) forever.

If the next generation will follow the known scheme of "more power, more speed, more gfx and sfx" then Nintendo will catch up. High End Chips are falling in price so a next gen Nintendo console will perform like a PS3 today. But MS and Sony can't improve so much. And even if they do, the developers can't spend millions like a movie company. It's just too much. I think the developers won't use all new gfx features etc. They simply wouldn't get enough time. So it would be easier to develop a game with the same quality graphics for ALL new consoles.

If I'm wrong with anything, feel free to correct me. :-)

That's the thing about the current gen. It doesn't matter if you like the Wii or not, you still have to admit that the only one definitely making a profit is Nintendo, so in that respect they are the clear winners (well, if there have to be some kind of winners :P).

Honestly, the less that SEGA does for Nintendo, the better.
Sega used to make quality games, especially quality Sonic games, but then forsook that path in favor of absolute shit like Sonic Unleashed and Sonic The Hedgehog; their games merely drag the console down as a whole.

Yeah, the cycle continues (http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/5648/1215840016372ur8.jpg). But Sonic (http://www.ripten.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/sonic-big-sword1.jpg) and the Black Knight (http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/3614/blackknightcr1.jpg)? Sonic (http://www.destructoid.com/elephant/ul/96293-Untitled-2%20copy.jpg) and the Black Fucking Knight (http://images.allposters.com/images/102/039_black_knight.jpg)? What the fuck Sega? What the fuck?

As far as I'm concerned Sonic becoming a were anything was the death of the franchise...

If you can't get over the Black Knight thing you'll hate me for saying this, but although it was not perfect, Sonic and The Secret Rings (dumb title aside) was actually rather fun.

I still want my 2D based platformer rendered in 30 like New Super Mario Bros. was.

To add to this, Unleashed should have been only platforming.

Look I know Sega has a huge problem with how they've handled Sonic after the Adventure series. But do anything but true 2D Sonic platformer and most classic Sonic fans will complain. However will such a game be perceived good by modern gamers used to what games are now. I can see to short, no depth, and good but not 50 dollars good being thrown about if they did. Complaining about Sonic and the Black Knight is just complaining that the game has Sonic in it only. I just can't see Sega jumping back in time and scraping the wildly convoluted world they've created for Sonic over the years.

As for Sega and Nintendo, I think you're being a fool. They only way I'd consider Sega backstabbing Nintendo is if they announced Skies of Arcadia 2 for PS360 only... But thats kind of because they decided it was going to be GC series back then and...
Never mind its stupid to call then traitorous for a classic game compilation. What about Phantasy Star Universe? Was that chopped liver? It was Xbox360 exclusive. Or how about making Valkyria Chronicles for PS3 and actually making it good? That not work either?
Sega making something not for Nintendo is not a backstab, and besides Playstation Store and Xbox live sell retro games too.

I find it hard to hate Sega. Two reasons being that they are publishing MadWorld, and then there is the new House of the Dead.

I'm pissed at nintendo for not allowing Rare to put Golden Eye 64 on xbox when Rare owns it and wanted to do this. So nintendo can stick with their party games because I own one and haven't touched since I played over 150 hours of smash bros brawl. I use my xbox 360 daily when I'm not making things into slightly dirtier things on the nes.

Nintendo published Goldeneye, though that's not the only reason you haven't seen it for download anywhere. There are also the James Bond licensing issues to work with. I think they'd have to pay for a new license for Bond....I know many of us would buy it, but would the money really be worth it?

Oh true...I should do my research. I thought rare had everything and nintendo just published it so they were being jerks. But yeah, Microsoft looking into it. I would know tons of people that would buy it, especially if it had 4 player split screen like the original and online capability. I'm sure everyone and their mother would get the thing. So it may be worth the money since that's one of the most well known console fps games. I'm also hoping for Timesplitters 4 to come to be. Mainly because TS has the golden eye feel, plus map editor.

I went back and played Goldeneye with one of my friends recently. To tell you the truth, it was horrible. Unless they were to update the graphics (and framerate) and add online play, there's no fucking way I'd buy it.

To get back to the topic, though...The way I see it, this collection is another way for SEGA to make money. If you want SEGA to release more stuff, then it's good for them to make money. In essence: MONEY+SEGA= =)

Sonic Rivals.

I went and bought myself a PS3 copy of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, and I'm quite happy with the game. There's even some oldies on here that I never even heard of and I now get to... experience them in 720p =]

Actually, I heard rumors that Nintendo themselves were looking into it. Don't know if that was true or not though. If I bought it I'd just want to play in the Facility with Remote Mines.

Actually...this is really immature but keep in mind this was years ago ;), I used to like to do things like toss mines into the sinks and toilets, then get someone to chase me in there, circle around back to the entrance, then explode the hell out of them with my huge amounts of mines. :P

lol good times. Me and my brother played Facility so much that I managed to remember the spawn points so it was pretty funny to see him insta-explode after respawning.

Also Perfect Dark + bots + remote mines = BOOM!

Plus it was really funny putting the mines onto the bots and then blowing them up.

I really don't care about the old Sega Games as I can play them on emulators. What i care about is what Sega is making now and for the Wii they have done themselves justice with Nights, House Of The Dead 2 & 3, House Of The Dead Overkill and Madworld plus the Wii is getting the new Virtua Tennis game so its thumbs up from me.

Both games are really good and fun to play and they come away from the kid image that the Wii is getting.
