I recieved a letter from some random gaming site today, which happens to be related to UGO. Something that smells like UGP, an old magazine I used to read many moons ago. Anywho, it went like this:
"
Hi,

While visiting another game site (http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/11756.html), we noticed that you had submitted an FAQ and we would like permission to post it on a new site we are working on for our GameNotOver (http://gamenotover.com) web site. Of course you will retain all of the credit for everything of yours that we post and this in no way prevents you from posting it on any other game site. We believe our users would be interested in reading it which is why we wanted to ask before we posted it.

You could also optionally create a free user account on our site and we could tie everything we post to your account. This will make it easy for people to see everything you have written just by looking at your username once we launch the new site. Creating an account is optional and we will be glad to use a name/handle you provide if you prefer not to register an account. If you create an account, please include it an email reply to this email.

If you have any other FAQs, reviews, previews, etc. that you would like for us to include on our site, email them to us with your username or real name and we will post them. Since we may not have found every article you posted, you may want to send all of them to us just in case.

We really would appreciate a reply to this email as soon as possible!

Thank you,
GameNotOver.com

Now it was just me, but I actually checked it out before I replied. and what did I find? Incursive Shadowbane ads, next to zero readability, and almost no worthwhile content. AND THEY WANT ME!!!!! </orgasm>

So I replied in kind:

"
Thank you for your interest in my work. I believe you have referenced my Low Level FAQ, which is posted at Gamefaqs.com.

I took the time to review your current website and I have to say that I was totally underwhelmed. All of your pertinent information was very difficult for me to find, and after searching for your content on the game my FAQ is about (FInal Fantasy 3, SNES) I found only a handful of uncredited "Cheats" which were in fact battle strategies (and pretty bland ones at that).

It has been a long standing policy of mine to refuse to do half-assed work. To be honest, the design of your site, coupled with the constant advertising, appears to be half assed. An easier guided menu, where game content is focused on instead of requested, would be much more beneficial to your viewers.

Please take this criticism constructively as I decline my offer to be hosted by your site. Do not post any of my content on your server or site. Thank you.

How do you all think I handled it?

That's better (and more mature) than what I would have done. I would've forwarded the message to the site's host citing it was spam, etc., etc.

I can be a real asshole sometimes.

I recieved a Reply from them tonight. Here is it's text:

"We will comply with your wishes and we will NOT host any of you material on
any of our sites.

I'm impressed. They managed to stay professional when I politely gave them hell :)
