So me and my friends where talking and one of them says "I can use my pc as an xbox." When I ask him how he does this he told me "you need 256mb processor, 2gb of hard drive space and a 512 video card."
I'm going to try this on my system. But does anyone else now if anything else is needed to do this?
you still have to buy your games for it to work though.

did he really say a 256MB processor?

Your friend is so full of shit.

If there were a decent emulator it COULD be possible (apparently there is one, though I've not tried it as it sounds like it isn't too good), though who knows what kind of system you'd need.

he did use a 256mb processor. the original xbox didn't use much better, I don't think so anyway. and seeing as how people have turned an xbox into a computer with just the available parts it seems likely. plus this guy is honest to a fault, he's not the type to lie about such things.
I think he used some program, but not an emulator, to get the games running. maybe a mock bios? like what they do to emulate the Wii, but in bios form?

mb - megabyte - a unit of data size in bytes - in this case likely meaning storage. Hence, your friend likely mean 256 MB of Random Acesss Memory. Besides, I do not know where you can find a 266 Mhz computer these days except a garage sales.... that is sllllllllllllllooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Anybody here remember when a 486 dx at 100 mhz with a 16 megs of ram was amazing?

Yes, my first PC was a 486DX2/66 with 4MB RAM, and thanks for reminding me how old I am.

The Wii emulator is an emulator. It simulates Gamecube and the Wii in software (I assume you mean the program called Dolphin?). For one, both use a PowerPC processor...there is no way it would just run natively on a Windows box (since all versions of Windows run under an architecture, x86, that is significantly different than that of PowerPCs).

There's probably a chance that X-Box code could be coerced into running on a Windows machine (since they use the same sorts of processor at least) but you still couldn't just snap your fingers and get all X-Box games running 100% for everyone. Like any game console, it expects certain hardware and behaviour from that hardware. Now, I would agree that it might have a slight advantage having the same architecture as a Windows PC and being pretty similar to one, but it doesn't mean you can snap your fingers and expect all games to run 100% for everyone.

I don't expect it too run all games and I don't use dolphin. it only play low power games like half-life2 as far as xbox games go.
my friend used a bios from some xbox programming thingy. it runs a bios as if it was the os on your computer.

This thread is hilarious. LoL!

One of the emulators actually tries to convert Xbox .exes into Windows .exes, and has a program to run them, I forgot which. In any case Xbox emulators suck currently (as well as your friend's knowledge about computers - there is no such thing as a 256 MB processor)

This must be the one I was trying to think of. I cannot remember what it was called though. The first time I heard of it was the last. :P
