Hi, I'm new here, but I've been a massive playstation gamer I won't bore you with details, I just found out about ePSXe & pSX emulator a couple of days ago & I was overwhelm with joy that I can play pSX games on my PC :) so far so good,
I download ePSXe emulator version 1.60 & got the plug-ins etc with Wipeout 2097/XL (first PSX game I owned) it was working hooray I thought, now while I was racing there was sound :) no music in the menu, introduction or race I felt like :banghead: off my wall so I delete it
Then I read up about pSX version 1.13 download it got the component I need success I got sound & music working on Wipeout 2097/XL :) but the games are very limited to play
what I'm asking is what the best playstation one emulator to date to use
ePSXe or pSX if its either please help!!!!!!!!!! me to configuration it to act like an original PSX thank to anyone who helps me out

ePSXe is great, but if you don't want to play with plug-ins, pSX is the way to go.

Well, I think prefer ePSXe myself, but I'm just saying...especially for people new to this sort of thing, pSX is far easier to use.

i just think its best to start with the best.
besides, it'll teach em' how to use it if they tinker a bit first.

Hell, a real PSX isn't even accurate ;)

Technically, pSX is the most compatible / comparable to the real thing. ePSXe is hacky, has graphical enhancements, to make games playable but isn't as accurate. Original Poster, if you can't figure out the plugins, just try pSX instead, its easier.

Yeah, pSX is like the real PSX. People complain about the graphics, the even with a real PSX the graphics aren't all that great.
My PSX broke 3 years ago, and I just want to be able to play my games like I was on a real playstation, so I heart pSX, no non-sense, just the game untouched.
I've had my hours of tinkering with ePSXe, but I was quite happy with the ending results that ensued. It just takes a shit-ton of time to get the settings right to get it to play properly.
Granted I never tried pSX, but that sounds like it would be the way to go if you truly wanted to play the game without any gimicks and for how it played.
I really do like the ability to customize what you can do with ePSXe, tho. If you want to be able to modify graphics and whatnot, then ePSXe is the way to go. Just expect a number of hours to come out of your time tinkering with it and figuring out what you like best. But to me, that is also half the fun. xDDD

I think ePSXe is okay. It's the only emulator for psx I tried, but I never had any problems. But perhaps it's just a result of my time being a romhacker, so I got used to spend hours of configuring ;-)
