Your real files and Mac wouldn't be susceptible to Windows viruses, no.
Basically the emulator will create a 'virtual environment' and 'virtual hard disk', depending on which emulator it is. Any virus within the emulation environment couldn't interact outside of the 'virtual hard disk file' into your real machine files, but the Windows your emulating could simulate virusus, theoretically.

okay, thanks for the advice!
Note that if your virtual environment has access to your real data then it is potentially at risk.
Catching a virus is much more unlikely, but still potentially possible if the "emulator" has such permissions and the malicious program is designed with the real environment, accessed through portals in the virtual environment, in mind.
Don't you just love paranoia?
