Hi guys, I've been working on a Super Mario RPG hack for a long time now and I've been wondering something, is there a better utility to use than Hexposure? Sure it's an MS-DOS program but it's easily the best Hex Editor available. I can use it just fine (I love it) but I was wondering if I'm missing out on anything better that's currently available. Thanks for any help I get. :D

Windhex is probably the best option. The interface is similar enough to Hexposure that it's not a huge pain to get used to and it offers several features that Hexposure doesn't. I've been using it for several years now and rarely miss Hexposure.

I've always used Hexecute. True Windhex is more recent. And Hexecute is probably much different from what your using. Just my preference though.

Hmm, I think I'll check out Windhex, thanks for the suggestion! :)

Toasterhed, I tried Hexecute and it's not as good as Hexposure. Also... This is a dumb opinion but I disliked having the icon for Hexecute on my desktop, it was ugly. Though I must say the splash screen was nice. ;)

I'd like to play that hack for sure.
Remember to post the hack here also :)

Me too. I've never honestly played a Super Mario RPG hack. Best wishes to you and keep us posted! :)

Emacs!

...actually, I haven' actually used either in some time (lately I mostly use SciTE ) but vi versus Emacs arguments can be amusing to watch, in a morbid way.

Anyway, by "text editor" he apparently just meant a hex editor that's convenient for hacking rom text, not a text editor in the usual sense.
