As far as your review, I found it a bit verbose. Your focus was more about how you felt about the game rather than examining the game mechanics, graphics, etc. You should work on toning down the language and focusing more on what the game elements are instead of giving away the ending/game and waiting until the end to actually give feedback about the game. I'm not trying to give you a hard time. Just constructive criticism. You'll reach a far broader audience if you are more concise and less "wordy".

I love this game. Superstar (SNES) will always be the best. I wonder if they have a game for Wii? *goes to look*

Anyways, Kirby is awesome. I know it's very much a kid's game but I enjoy it.

Also, before you say I stole this idea from the Angry Video Game Nerd, he did the Sega Genesis version of the game. This is the Game Gear version. I do plan on doing a review of the Sega Genesis version, but I honestly thought that game was pretty cool. I am not trying to be a copycat. I was playing this game and thought it needed a review.

Well, actually no. It's just that if I got burned like that I would post my stuff somewhere else. Obviously there is some indication. And I do think 9th sage is right.

And I know I should try to be less harsh. Though I've tried to be really nice to everyone. I'm not taking sides here. I thought it was funny, maybe that was inappropriate and I apologize. It was some early hour in the morning and I was maybe wasn't thinking the best? Besides reaper man is right, peeving off a mod is like peeing in your own cheerios. I think that was more my point. I actually was more or less saying that if you can't deal with people telling you the truth how they feel about your reviews or thoughts, as in it's stressing you out. Why bother?

I once played this on the PC. Looking back, it seems a bit like Burnout's cooler, edgier older brother. Burnout is more fun, but it's a bit square next Carmageddon. I should look for it on a torrent site, I'll probably be able to get it working in DOSBox/VirtualBox.

There seems to be a rather severe audio/video sync problem going on in that video. Was it like that in the emulator or did that happen when the video was uploaded? I can see what you're talking about with the controls though, was it that bad on the real console?

Well the only thing I've been doing recently is messing around with Doom source ports (Chocolate Doom, PrBoom, and ZDoom specifically). If you want to take a look at what I've been playing with, the three I've been spending most of my time with are:

Icarus: Alien Vanguard (http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Icarus:_Alien_Vanguard) - A classic (1995) PWAD for Doom II. Seems to play best on Chocolate Doom here, and it's pretty fun actually. From the same team that made Evilution for Final Doom.

Mock 2: The Speed of Stupid (http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Mock_2:_The_Speed_of_Stupid) - Joke WAD for Doom II, god mode recommended. Seems to play best on ZDoom. It's a collection of things inexperienced level designers do wrong, with a rather warped sense of humour throughout. The final level is actually somewhat poetic in its own strange way.

The Sky May Be (http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/The_Sky_May_Be) - An absolute legend, both praised as work of twisted genius and condemned as the worst WAD ever made in equal level. Designed for Doom/Ultimate Doom, and only seems to work fully in ZDoom here. Must be seen to be believed, god mode essential (not that it will help (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5D25Xn0C_OQ&fmt=18)).

I've also been using MAME a bit, where I would recommend Metal Slug 3 and Puchi Carat ("Thank you for player.") as two games worth playing.

I hadn't watched any of these for a while, so I figured I'd take a look. A few observations:


- The cursing is so frequent that it loses any power as emphasis, and ends up coming off as a cheap attempt to give the video attitude.


- Personally, I found the bitch/whore thing off-putting. I'm not saying the following is necessarily actually the case, but at any rate it made you sound like a guy who has some weird chip on his shoulder against women. For a moment you had a bit of something good in pointing out that the doe-eyed character didn't look likely to live up to her august name, but then you went and killed it by going overboard with all the bitch this and whore that, making it sound like you have some sort of issues you need to work out when it comes to women. Again, not necessarilly the true case, as it may have just been an attempted comedy device that didn't work out as well as was hoped, but either way it started the review off on a bad foot, for me anyway.


- People often enjoy reading or hearing withering reviews, but it's clever snarkiness that sets apart the wickedly funny thrashings from the rest. Mere name-calling doesn't work as snark.

OK, purposely over-the-top intro theme, and he has bursts of profanity, but he builds up to it so you can sense his anger building up to critical mass, and he rarely waste a curse on an element that isn't worthy of real scorn.

Ah, I see now where that flipping out at the end thing comes from -- it's a direct imitation of him. In fact, now it seems like the whole "angry gamer" attitude is an immitation of him. It's often useful to learn from other people's work, but it's best to develop one's own unique voice. (I'm reminded of Alan Moore's complaint (http://www.avclub.com/articles/alan-moore,13740/) that Watchmen-like comics by others were echoes of his bad mood 15 years ago - to some degree it's egotistical of him to not recognize that part of what made Watchmen so popular was that the time was ripe for that kind of gritty deconstructionism, and if not him someone else would likely have tapped into that, but on the other hand there is a bit of truth to his gripe, in that followers that don't bring something new to the table run the risk of coming off as inauthentic copies.)

To tell the truth, the angry explosions of profanity in his reviews don't really add much for me, but perhaps others feel differently. However, he does discuss the games in enough length, homing in on all the positives and negatives with enough pinpoint accuracy, that the tantrums manage not to get too tiresome.

I actually went out of my way to state twice that I wasn't saying you necessarily actually harbored such sentiments. I specifically said (with italicizing to emphasize the distinction) that the monologue made it sound like you did. As in, could easily give someone that impression. If you don't believe me, send an email to several girls you know saying "Hey, if you have some time, check out this video game review I made and tell me what you think! :)" After that, whenever you encounter each of them in person, take note if at least some of them act a bit uncomfortable around you.

By the way, some food for thought (for anyone who reads this, not just you):
When you think of a woman like Paris Hilton, do you think "what a damn whore"?
When you think of a guy like Hugh Heffner, do you think "what a damn whore"?
If the answers differed, ask yourself why.

Due to my injuries suffered by a good sized rock that hit me in the ribs this past weekend at the racetrack. I have decided to put my reviews on hold. I am still in severe pain, and it should be about 4 to 6 days, before I wanna do something again. Nothing is broke, but I got severe bruising, and I'm in some pain. On top of that this Saturday and Sunday is a 2 day race, so I will busy with that. Sorry for the inconvience, but I don't think its a good idea to push myself as of right now.

Good morning, here it is 2:10AM where I am, and I am still awake...well I slept for about 5 hours earlier, but I woke up and cannot seem to get back to sleep.

I been quite busy the last day or so. Alot of you don't know this, but I am into hunting, I hunt animals like deer, elk, bear and cougar. Now, I am not some backwoods hillbilly or anything, although I do live in a small town (btw it says Carcer City, Washington) there is no such place. I do live in Washington, but Carcer City I got from the game "Manhunt"

Anyways, I hunt deer for the food, deer steak, deer jerky, deer pepperoni, its good stuff. Now, I hope I didn't offend anyone talking about hunting, I know some people do get offended by it, and if so, I apologize, so lets move on.

I am currently working on alot of stuff. Some racing related video project, and some gaming/reviews stuff.

I am currently working on a review of the game "Clayfighters" for the Sega Genesis. I am also working on a CD review of the new KISS album "Sonic Boom" So expect those soon. As for the CD reviews, they will be somewhat short, and simple.

Now a few other things before I stop this blog.

I am coming up on 1 year of doing reviews and gaming videos. December 17, 2008 is when I posted my first review. You guys remember that??? Super Mario Bros, and looking back, I have somewhat improved. Its been fun doing reviews, a bit hectic at times, there were a few times (well more then a few) that I wanted to quit, being called a ripoff and a hack angered me alot, but alot of people told me to ignore it, and I did, and you know it paid off in the long run. Its been fun. I want to thank everyone who has supported me, and my reviews. I really do appreciate it, there has been many reviewers have inspired me to do this. One of them is the Angry Video Game Nerd, the guy is funny as hell, and does a damn good job on his reviews, way better then I will ever do, therefore he inspired me alot. I will be honest, the Irate Gamer has inspired me, I know alot of people don't care for him, but I have been entertained by his videos, and then there are reviewers on Youtube that have inspired me also, the Happy Video Game Nerd, and many others. There are many others I can name too. Not just reviewers that do videos, but written reviews. A few I can name off is Shawn Elliott of the now defunct CGW/Games for Windows Magazine, spending alot of time listening to the Podcasts from 1up.com and listening to the funny things that are said on there, just crack me up. Another reviewer is Jeff Green, who use to write for the same magazine. Then there is Seanbaby, another funny mofo, who also does some work over at 1up.com

Another site is ScrewAttack, alot of the people on here, have really somewhat inspired me as well. I mean the Sidescrollers Podcast is funny as hell, as well as other videos. Hell I remember the first time I heard of ScrewAttack.com, I was over at Gametrailers, and I was watching the Top 10 list videos, and man I was cracking up at those videos.

Anyways, thank you to everyone, to all the subscribers, the websites and forums for letting me post my reviews, and to the other reviewers who have inspired me (to many to name). I do plan on doing a 1 year special, so stay tuned for that.

Also I am getting closer to the 1000 subscriber mark on Youtube, which is pretty cool.

Ah, for the music....well, I think a case can be made for footage recorded of a game you're playing, but it's certainly true that if you don't own a song you don't neccesarily have permission to use it. Personally I don't think IP owners should have such an issue with something like what you're doing, but ah well. So it goes I suppose.

Well I look at it this way. Yes music is copyrighted, but what music does Youtube shutdown accounts and videos for?? Popular music. It is not gonna hurt to use 20 seconds, to sometimes 45 seconds of a song. It won't hurt at all.

Plus the popular accounts can get away with using music, and not get busted. It's stupid, but what can I do? Just move on, start all over.
