PSEmu Pro 1.02 First public Beta release PSX emulator for Windows Copyright (C) 1998, Duddie and Tratax (Henk-Jan Ober) How to get it to work FAQ! Version 0.1 (First Release) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ by [DoOm] ( DMUK@the-lair.com ) Ok, well I was on efnet, and in the #psemu irc channel, and I found quite a few people complaining that it doesnt work etc, though this is to be expected as it is only a beta, but I thought I may as well write something to help people get it almost working. Please note, this is the first time I have used this PSEmu, and I am just like you, not an official beta tester, just an ordinary person who d/l the emu. My machine specs: * Pentium Pro 180. * 64Mb RAM. * Stealth S3000 Video Card. * 3Dfx Voodoo card. * Eide CD-ROM Drive. * Windows 98 Final. Ok, lets start with some basic Question & Answers. = Q) Where do I get PSEmu Pro from? A) Go to: http://www2.crosswinds.net/liverpool/~emuunlim/email/email20.htm = Q) I Get the error "PSEmu requires at least SCPH1000.BIN bios image in BIOS directory" when I launch PSEmuPro. A) You need the playstation bios, grab it from: http://home.onestop.net/consoleh/ Get the zip file, and extract it to the BIOS directory in your PSEmuPro directory. = Q) I get the error "cannot open specific binaries" when I lauch PSEmuPro. A) You need the MFC debug DLLs, grab them from: http://www2.crosswinds.net/liverpool/~emuunlim/email/email20.htm Click on the link for DLLs, and extract them to your main PSEmuPro directory. = Q) I click on configure, and Windows9x brings up this error message and tells me to close PSEmuPro. A) Move the error box out of the way, and continue in the configure menu to configure the Graphic Processing Unit and Sound Processing Unit ONLY! Once you have selected your drivers, click OK, PSEmuPro will then tell you to restart PSEmu, click OK, and then press on the Windows error message, PSEmu will then close. Now, reload PSEmuPro, go to configure, ignore the error once again and go to the CD-ROM drive, choose the driver (for me it was ASPI Driver 1.0.4), now click Configure and select your drive. Click OK, then click OK again, and PSEmu will tell you that you need to restart PSEmuPro, click on the OK button, and now click on the windows error message to close PSEmuPro. Now, reload PSEmuPro and everything should be working, click on Run CD and pray! = Q) PSEmuPro brings up this message, when I click on Run CD "Your CDROM does not support RAW mode reading. This will cause many games not working!" A) Guess what, your cd-rom drive does not support RAW mode reading..oh well :) = Q) I click on Run CD, and click OK, my 3DFX logo comes up and disappears, my CD-ROM drive "whurls" and then nothing happens, what do I do? A) It looks like PSEmuPro has crashed, for one of many reasons could be that the game is not supported or that you dont have the required hardware, oh well, only option you can do is to press control-alt-delete and force PSEmuPro to quit. = Q) PSEmuPro crashes on startup, what do I do? I have deleted the dir and re-extracted, but it still crashes, help! A) PSEmuPro stores its data in the Windows registry, so to stop PSEmuPro from crashing at load up, you are going to have to edit your Windows registry! To do this, do the following: Click on Start, and then go to run. Type in "regedit" (NOTE: do not type in the "). Regedit will load, now go to Edit, and then click on Find (or you can press Control-F). Type in "Vision Thing" (NOTE: do not type in the "), now press delete and press YES! Now reload PSEmuPro and it will tell you that it will go back to the default settings, press OK, and now it will load up. = Note, that I havent actualy got PSEmuPro to play a game, so if you are like me and cannot get PSEmuPro to load games, then dont go bugger the people who made the emu or slag them off, just remember that this is the first beta release and of course it wont work on everyones machine, so just sit tight and wait for another build! OK? Oh yeah, PSEmuPro Team, keep up the good work!! = If you need any help, just email me at: DMUK@the-lair.com and I will try and help you!
