Another stellar upadte for the Stella. Here are the changes for v2.8.4:
- Fixed bug where Stella could lock up after running for ~71 minutes. Special thanks to Robert Tuccitto for bugtesting and feedback on this issue.
- Updated UA bankswitch autodetection for Gingerbread Man ROM.
- Updated 0840 bankswitch autodetection for Toyshop Trouble ROM.
- The smallest ROM that Stella can support is 64 bytes; this lower limit is now tested when loading Sub2K ROMs.
- Starting from this release onward, I will be providing Linux binaries for the latest version of Ubuntu only (currently, 32/64-bit Jaunty). The Mandriva RPMs are discontinued, but will probably be still available from the PLF repository. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but I can no longer build, maintain or support packages for systems that I don't personally use.
Go here for Windows, here for Linux, or here for MacOSX.

I have elected to add two additional audio players:
- in_he2, a Winamp plugin for playing PC Engine / Turbo Grafx 16 music files; and
- NEZplug+, a modification to the original NEZplug plugin for multiple sound formats.

The author of JCOM-SPC, a Super Nintendo sound file player for Windows, released the final version of the program (v1.95) on June 9th. Here are the author's comments:
"After years of sitting on this version I'm finally releasing it and putting the old JCOM-SPC code to rest. What does this mean? It means that I am releasing the source code! Now you can see how bad the code realy is, how everything is patched together with binary ducktape. Come on, I DARE you to attempt to clean it up! So many little or unused variables, public variables out the earholes. Heck, looking at the code now I can't fathom at all how it all works, 'cause it isn't commented one bit where it counts! Have fun! Oh, here are the changes for this version:
- Fixed a bug or two.
- Added some rudimentary external audio compresser support. Check 'compresser.txt' for more info.\"
Peace,
-Montie
vgmstream, a Winamp plugin and Windows command-line decoder for playing streamed audio from video games, was updated to test build #665 on Monday. As usual, the author does not maintain changelogs for test builds. You can grab it at our vgmstream download page.
Peace,

Note from author Olafcore:
I saw there was a demand for TAS-capable SMS/GG emulators, so I figured I'd take a whack at it. I went a different route with rewinding and resuming recording through save states. Rewinds are saved forever until you clear them yourself on a per game basis. Here's the change log and there was also a new contributor, benryves of Cogwheel. Oh yeah, it passes ZEXALL now thanks to brom.
- added various fixes to the vdp, including horizontal sprite zooming [benryves]
- added 3d disabling for games that are supposed to use the segascope 3d glasses [olaf]
- added dx7vb.dll to the source's zip for compiling on windows 7 [olaf]
- added the load rom shortcut key in full screen mode [olaf]
- added a compatibility hack for '[bios] alex kidd in miracle world (korea)' [olaf]
- added slow motion throttles (50%, 25%, 12%, 6%, and 3%) [olaf]
- added rewinding (works with movie states and saves at an interval of 1 second) [olaf]
- added 'reset and record' option for movie states [olaf]
- added a play time pop up window to the end of movie playback [olaf]
- added resuming recording from a save state [olaf]
- removed a bug in handling of game gear rom filenames [olaf]
- removed the disabling of gg's border [olaf]
- removed the gg's start button in sms mode and removed sms's pause button in gg mode [olaf]
- removed the sms's second input in gg mode [olaf]
- removed a bug with rapid fire in gg mode [olaf]
- removed a bug that did not allow pc gamepad input during movie recording [olaf]
- removed the sms's region code in gg mode [olaf]
- removed the bugs in the z80 core which now allow vbsms+ to pass the zexall test [brom]
- removed a bug when you tried to play a movie while already recording [olaf]
- removed a bug where movie states were using the save state slot number [olaf]
- removed avi recording (there was no sound and i never planned on working on it) [olaf]
- changed some sound code around and now it sounds better [brom]
- changed default window size to 2x and default full screen size to 640x480 [olaf]
- changed the region submenu around (now with proper pal/ntsc modes too) [olaf]
- changed the gg to its proper speed (always ntsc mode) [olaf]
- changed some other menus/submenus around [olaf]
- changed "fast forwarding" to 'no throttle' [olaf]
- changed sprite limiting to enabled by default for the sake of accuracy [olaf]
- changed 'rapid fire unit' to 'rapid fire' since there was no rfu for gg [olaf]
- changed movie states to overwrite if there's already a movie state on the slot [olaf]
The webpage is here as always. If it receives good reception from the TAS scene, I'll keep working on it in the vein of TAS emulators.
You can also download the download the emulator from here at ZD.
Due to a small bug in a Tcl script in 0.7.1, openMSX wasn't able to load savestates with paths that contain spaces, which is the most common case on standard Windows installations. 0.7.2 is available to fix that.

A new release of this PC Engine/Turbo Grafx 16 emulator for Windows is available. These are the changes:
- The pad operation record function (\"File->Start Recording\" menu) was made \"For two players\", \"For turbo(auto-fire) exclusive button\", and \"For six button pad\". * In CD-ROM Game, when there is an access to CD-ROM while recording, the gap is caused at playing the record (Because the timing of the CD access differs every time at each play). Please use it within the range where the CD access doesn't happen. I want to improve it in the future.
- \"Start Recording another\" was added to \"File\" menu. Two or more play records are possible. \"Reproduction\" is done by \"Play Record another\" menu. Moreover, \"Move\" menu for the data movement was added.
- The timing of operation was brought close to a real machine. In \"Wizardry I&II\" and \"Wizardry III&IV\", the problem that the screen has fallen into disorder (generated from v1.63) was solved.
- The processing part of ADPCM voice was brought close to the movement of a real machine. In \"Langrisser\", the problem that the voice occasionally fell into disorder while combatting (generated from v1.40) was solved.
- Additionally, a detailed part has been improved and corrected.
Download it at the author's webpage. It will be later available here.
A new release of this MSX emulator for Windows is available. Several new features have been added, the more important are these:
- It includes a brand new installer with binaries which have been created in a brand new way, using Microsoft Visual C++ 2008. This means smaller binaries and also support for 64-bit Windows operating systems.
- Several long standing problems have been fixed in the Windows release of openMSX. E.g., it now includes full support for unicode!
- For the rest we have mostly fixed smaller issues and added some cool demonstrations of what one can do with the combination of (Tcl) scripting, the debug command and the OSD.
- Also, released together with openMSX, an updated version of Catapult (the user-friendly GUI).
To check the full changelog and to download it, visit the project webpage. The emulator will also be available here later.
